The 2020 Toyota Highlander: Redesigned With Seamless and Efficient Performance
July 03 2019, Bolton Toyota
Now in its fourth generation, the Highlander gets a fresh, stylish update and inside-out re-engineering that improves its interior, safety, and performance. With the constant refinements, it’s no wonder the Highlander has been a mainstay in the SUV landscape for many years.
The New Exterior Transforms the 2020 Toyota Highlander
The new, sophisticated exterior takes on an entirely new design direction to create a bold presence. Sitting on Toyota’s New Global Architecture platform, it also offers better crash safety than its predecessors.
Several trim-specific improvements make the exterior unique no matter which one you buy. The L, LE, and XLE trims get a boost with a new silver and black grille. Limited and Platinum models upgrade to premium headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, a chrome-plated lower rear fascia, and premium project headlamps. The Platinum sets itself aside with a silver front bumper and rear fascia and a specially designed 20-inch wheel.
Performance and Efficiency You’d Expect in the 2020 Toyota Highlander
Under its striking exterior, the Highlander boasts the choice of two advanced engines. Gas-powered models have a 295-horsepower six-cylinder that produces 263 lb-ft of torque and the eight-speed transmission maximizes highway performance while operating in a smooth and quiet manner. This powertrain offers a 2,267-kilogram towing capacity.
The Hybrid version uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that produce an efficiency-focused 240 horsepower. The 6.9 l/100 km fuel consumption is impressive, but the engine does not give up on the performance that buyers want.
Inside, the plush interior of each 2020 Highlander trim reminds you that this vehicle is about comfort. Each cabin is influenced by luxury design that results in a premium ambience with padded surfaces and stitching that reaches from the door to the instrument panels.
Technology-wise, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto lead several entertainment options. The Limited and Platinum trims feature a 1,200-watt JBL audio system with 11 speakers that will turn the Highlander into a concert hall. Safety-conscious drivers will have peace of mind with Toyota’s Safety Sense technology offerings that include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and more.
